Description: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told CNN’s climate change town hall attendees Wednesday night that he is willing to talk about population control, suggesting that abortion is key to addressing the climate crisis.

“Human population growth has more than doubled in the last 50 years,” an attendee told Sanders, adding that the planet cannot sustain such growth. “I realize this is a poisonous topic for politicians but it’s crucial to face. Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact,” the attendee continued. “Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe?” she asked. “The answer is yes,” Sanders said, arguing that population control – in the form of abortion and birth control, specifically – is something he “very, very strongly” supports. “The answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States of America, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies and make reproductive decisions,” Sanders said. “And the Mexico City agreement, which denies American aid to those organizations around the world that are – that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control is totally absurd,” he continued. “So I think especially in poor countries around the world, where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies and where they can have the opportunity to birth control to control the number of kids they have is something I very, very strongly support,” he added.

Oliver Jack Carter Lomas-Davis,who stole the Internet's heart while wearing a Bernie Sanders-esque wig and glasses on the campaign trail, has unexpectedly died at just 4 months, the Associated Press reports. He died on Feb. 25 from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS. Last month, little Oliver became a political darling when his mom, Susan Lomas, posted photos of him in costume at a Sanders rally in Las Vegas. The Vermont senator himself loved it, posing for photos with the "Bernie Baby." The Sanders campaign has been notified of his death and will be issuing a statement soon. His mother has been posting photos on Facebook and Twitter to honor his memory. "Oliver Jack Carter Lomas... I love you dearly, I love you most. I love you with all my heart and soul," she wrote. "I know that God will keep you near since God and truth are here." According to the Centers for Disease Control Prevention, SIDS is the sudden death of an infant under 1 that can't be explained, even after a thorough investigation. Around 1,500 infants died from SIDS in 2014, and it's the leading cause of death in infants under 1. Oliver will be laid to rest March 7 in Los Angeles, and the public is encouraged to attend. His aunt, Anastasia Lomas, has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family pay for funeral and burial expenses, as well as counseling for his loved ones.

Description:: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has came under fire from conservatives on social media Thursday after he said he would be open to discussing population control as a means to combat climate change.

bernie-gulag.jpg

The presidential candidate made the comments on Wednesday at a climate town hall on CNN after he was asked by an attendee about rising populations and how the planet "can not sustain this growth." The questioner, identified by CNN as a teacher named Martha Readyoff, said that she realized linking population control to climate was a topic "poisonous for politicians, but it's crucial to face." "Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact. Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe?" "Well, Martha, the answer is yes," Sanders said. "The answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States of America, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies, and make reproductive decisions," the senator said to applause from the crowd. "The Mexico City agreement which denies American aide to those organizations around the world that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control to me is totally absurd," Sanders continued. "So I think, especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies, and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, is something I very, very strongly support." The comments quickly sparked outrage from conservative media figures, including CNN host S.E. Cupp, who said Sanders was talking about eugenics when he made the comments.
How do you not say unequivocally “NO” to the question of whether you support the idea of “curbing population growth” through abortion to reduce climate change??? Well, watch. This is apparently how.
— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) September 5, 2019

Let’s just state for the record: talking about needing “population control” through ABORTION for the sake of CLIMATE is talking about EUGENICS. The fact that @BernieSanders is willing to entertain this vile idea is not only disgusting, it should be disqualifying.
— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) September 5, 2019

Also, if we’re going to talk about population control, we should bring up Malthusian theory, a cautionary tale against not anticipating how science and industry would solve future problems, like population growth. Let’s talk, @BernieSanders.
— S.E. Cupp (@secupp) September 5, 2019

Eugenics is the science of selective and controlled breeding in an effort to increase human characteristics and traits deemed desirable. Other conservatives voices on social media also criticized the remarks by Sanders, who is a leading contender for the Democratic presidential nomination. Sanders frequently touts his progressive policies to combat climate change, which has become a top issue for Democratic primary voters. He made Wednesday's remarks during a CNN event on climate change that featured most of the Democratic field. The Hill has reached out to the Sanders campaign for comment.

Description: In a bizarre, almost surreal CNN town hall event that repeatedly claimed hurricanes are all man-made, Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders called for a global-scale eugenics program to reduce human population by accelerating abortions in countries populated by people of color. Advocacy for all this came from Sanders’ response to a pre-screened question from an audience member named Martha Readyoff, “a teacher from New Milford, Connecticut.” Her question is heavily peppered with presuppositions, such as claiming abortion is “empowering women.” The question was obviously intended to push Sanders toward a more radical left-wing position, and he took the bait. Here’s her question (h/t to Newsbusters.org for the transcripts):
Good evening. Human population growth has more than doubled in the past 50 years. The planet cannot sustain this growth. I realize this is a poisonous topic for politicians, but it’s crucial to face. Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact. Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature in a plan to address climate catastrophe?
Bernie Sanders’ reply: Well Martha, the answer is yes. And the answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States of Americas, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies and make reproductive decisions. And the Mexico City agreement, which denies American aid to those organizations around the world that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control to me is totally absurd. So, I think especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, something I very strongly support.

Decoding the Sanders depopulation agenda
What Bernie Sanders is really saying here is that America should export more abortion funding and services to Third World countries that are largely populated by people of color. Secondly, Sanders did not in any way push back against the population control portion of the question. The question was strongly twisted to imply that pushing depopulation requires “courage,” and Sanders affirmed that he’s all in for reducing human population as a means to “address [the] climate catastrophe.” This is what the deranged, anti-human Left has come to: Exporting the murder of human babies in the name of saving the planet from “climate change,” a completely fabricated quack science fiction that’s been aggressively pushed by the fake news media like CNN and the NYT. In pushing for global depopulation goals, Bernie Sanders mirrors the efforts of former President Richard Nixon’s science advisor Dr. Lee DuBridge. In 1969, he advocated lacing U.S. food exports with infertility chemicals to cause miscarriages, infertility and spontaneous abortions in Third World nations. This eugenics program was documented by the New York Times in a Nov. 4, 1969 article by Gladwin Hill entitled, “A Sterility Drug in Food is Hinted – Biologist Stresses Need to Curb Population Growth” That article quotes Dr. Lee DuBridge, the “science advisor” to President Nixon, as saying, “Population control should be the prime task of every government.”

Image

As reported by Natural News: The New York Times article quotes Dr. Paul Ehrlich of Stanford University, a depopulation advocate, as well as President Richard Nixon’s chief science adviser, Dr. Lee DuBridge, who said that “population control should be the prime task of every government.” In the article, Dr. Ehrlich laments the fact that biologists believe, “compulsory family regulation will be necessary to retard population growth.” In essence, he is arguing that the government should be in charge of reproductive rights, determining who is allowed to reproduce and who must be sterilized. To achieve the sterilization goals, he “urged establishing a Federal Population Commission ‘with a large budget for propaganda,’” reports the New York Times. He also called for, “the addition of a temporary sterilant to staple food, or to the water supply” in order to cause mandatory infertility. Last night on CNN, Bernie Sanders just echoed the depopulation agenda of President Richard Nixon’s science advisor, who openly called for the covert sterilization of impoverished people of color who live in low-income countries. Bernie Sanders, in other words, is a eugenicist. And his eugenics scheme specifically targets people of color for expanded abortions (i.e. infanticide) and depopulation. Notably, Democrats almost universally endorse post-birth abortions — infanticide — for any reason whatsoever. Thanks to these sick left-wing child mutilators, abortion has become synonymous with the murder of infants, and this achieves the depopulation goals of left-wing globalists. Notably, depopulation is also CNN’s position, since CNN screened all the questions and fed the presuppositions to the candidates during its 7-hour broadcast that spread wildly false information about climate science, hurricanes and human population. This also echoes the covert vaccine sterilization program run by the United Nations in Kenya, where a Kenyan Catholic Bishops organization discovered that vaccines they were administering to young women were found to be deliberately laced with infertility chemicals. This was confirmed in a science paper that detailed the spiking of vaccines with infertility chemicals. Description: Socialists have never been particularly kind to children, and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders gives a good whiff of that callousness out on the campaign trail. At a Sanders speaking appearance in New Hampshire, a baby burst out in a sudden peal of screeches, and Sanders, calmly, without missing a beat, pointed at the baby and said: "Can we keep that down a little bit?" Washington Examiner tweeted the video:
@BernieSanders tells a crying baby to "keep that down a little bit."

bernie-crying-baby.jpg

— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) September 4, 2019

According to Splinter:
Speaking at a breakfast event in Epsom, NH, on Tuesday, video shows Sanders reiterating an attendee’s comment about having to cut his pills in half when he was briefly interrupted by the squeals of a child off camera.

Which raises questions about what kind of ego this guy has to think his own words are just so important that he can't show some consideration for a parent and an involuntarily crying baby, at a minimum, just pretending he doesn't hear them. A crying baby may be a challenge to him but it's always an even bigger challenge for a parent who must calm and comfort -- as well as endure brave nasty stares from outsiders. Sanders apparently never spent any appreciable time with babies. He got his girlfriend pregnant in 1969 and declined to marry her, something that suggests he viewed the baby as an inconvenience. The rest of the kids he calls his own were stepchildren from his second wife's previous marriage, far from babyhood. Rest assured, he's not been around babies. But even not being around babies isn't that great an excuse. Just how out of touch is this guy about human reality really? Telling a baby to shut up is insane, and not the least because the child doesn't understand spoken words. Sure, it's stressful, but he didn't sound stressed, he just pointed and commanded the baby as if he had a heckler coming at him. Up until now, nobody in politics -- or in any public speaking situation, has ever told a crying baby to shut up. It's not done. Is this Bernie's new barrier broken? Priests and rabbis undoubtedly deal with this during religious services all the time, and somehow they get through it with patience. The normal response for a public speaker in the face of a crying baby is to coo and perhaps make some droll humor until the child calms down. It's like he's never developed coping mechanisms. The poet Maya Angelou had an excellent suggestion for dealing with crying children in churches - to say 'let that child cry' because it's the baby's way to pray. It works. For me, when I hear I crying child, I focus on the mother (or father) trying to calm the baby, saying to myself: The mother will always win. The other thing I do is recall that I was once a baby, and surely did the same thing, so it all evens out. I don't point and yell at the baby and say 'keep that down a little.' Nobody does. Sanders is on record is favoring payments for third world abortions and other anti-baby measures. According to Breitbart, he views population control -- and getting rid of all those crying babies -- as his vehicle for saving the earth, declaring himself 'courageous.' Any surprise he's all in for ordering babies to 'keep that down a little bit,' too?

Description: Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has been criticised after arguing population control should be part of tackling climate change. The Vermont senator told a TV debate that women "in poor countries" should have access to birth control. Conservatives said the remark meant the self-described democratic socialist's climate change policy was for fewer "brown babies". The UN forecasts the Earth's population will rise to 11 billion by 2100. On social media on Thursday, Mr Sanders was likened to a Marvel movie villain. Senator Ted Cruz said the Democratic White House hopeful's remarks evoked Thanos, the Avengers baddie who kills half the world's population with a snap of his fingers. The Texas Republican joked: "In a surprise move, last night Bernie announced Thanos as his running mate."
What did Bernie Sanders say?
The population control issue was raised during a CNN climate town hall event in New York City on Wednesday night during a question from an audience member. Martha Readyoff, a teacher, said the topic was "poisonous for politicians, but it's crucial to face". "Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact," she began. "Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe?" Mr Sanders, who is running for the Democratic presidential nomination to face President Donald Trump in the November 2020 election, replied: "Well, Martha, the answer is yes. "The answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States of America, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies, and make reproductive decisions. "The Mexico City Agreement which denies American aid to those organisations around the world that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control to me is totally absurd. "So I think, especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies, and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, is something I very, very strongly support." The Mexico City Policy is a US government rule to ban overseas organisations that receive federal aid from performing abortions, even with other funding. The measure was rescinded under Democratic President Barack Obama, and reactivated in January 2017 by Mr Trump, a Republican.
What's the other reaction?
US conservative outcry followed the Vermont senator's comments. Steve Scalise, a Louisiana Republican congressman, tweeted: "Bernie Sanders said YOUR tax dollars should be used to fund abortions in foreign countries to reduce population size." Conservative writer Liz Wheeler tweeted: "Imagine being so disgusting that you want to force Americans to pay for abortions to kill brown babies in foreign countries so you don't feel guilty flying private jets & visiting communist nations." CNN host SE Cupp accused Mr Sanders of entertaining the racist ideology of eugenics. Another conservative commentator, Ben Shapiro, tweeted that Mr Sanders wanted to facilitate abortions for "disproportionately babies of colour, in order to fight climate change". Amid the backlash, Mr Sanders' Twitter account issued several posts about climate change, though it did not address population control directly.
What's the context?
According to a 2017 study published in the Lancet medical journal, global fertility rates are in decline because individual women are having fewer children. Even so, the UN forecasts the Earth's population will climb from 7.5 billion now to nearly 10.9 billion by 2100. Mr Sanders is not the first Democrat to raise population control as a tool for tackling climate change. In his 1992 book, former US Vice-President Al Gore wrote: "No goal is more crucial to healing the global environment than stabilising human population." Research indicates that babies in wealthier nations tend to have higher carbon footprints than those in still-developing countries. According to a World Bank study, for example, Americans produce 16.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide per capita every year. By comparison, only 0.1 tonnes of the greenhouse gas is generated in Ethiopia per inhabitant.

Bernie Sanders echoed Marvel villain Thanos during CNN climate town hall

Description: During CNN’s seven-hour Democratic town hall on climate change, ambitious and outlandish claims weren’t exactly in short supply. Sen. Kamala Harris indicated she wanted to ban fracking, while Sen. Elizabeth Warren promised to not “build any nuclear power plants” during her administration, even though nuclear power is one of the best ways to fight climate change. Yet it was a response from Sen. Bernie Sanders that offers the most cause for concern. When Sanders was asked if he would be “courageous enough” to make some form of population control “a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe,” without hesitation, he said “the answer is yes.” The specifics of what that may look like under a President Sanders aren’t entirely clear just yet, but Sanders, like many others, seem to believe that population is a key contribution to many of the problems we face. This is by no means a new line of thought, as the discussion around population control has actually had a resurgence in recent years. In fact, Sanders is echoing the ideology of one of the most popular villains in cinema: Thanos. Like Sanders, the Mad Titan Thanos believed that the world (and in his case, the universe) was overflowing with life, and if this wasn’t soon balanced, all life would cease to exist. This thinking drove every action Thanos took in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He found a possible solution through the “infinity stones” that could eliminate half of all life in a snap, and his quest for universal balance culminated in the films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Thanos was the ultimate example of a central planner, and his storyline illustrates the inevitability of authoritarians with good intentions. Throughout Infinity War, he wasn’t acting evil for evil’s sake, he had a clear reason to believe what he believed, and his convictions drove everything he did. Then, after the Avengers showed Thanos how his plans would fail, instead of accepting that he was wrong, he doubles down and seeks to eliminate all life rather than half. This escalation, illustrated through Thanos, is how many central planners start from ideas of peace, balance, and tranquility but end up with bloodshed and authoritarianism. Now, Sanders is not Thanos, and he likely wouldn’t take steps as extreme as Thanos does to achieve population control. But much like Thanos, Sanders doesn’t understand that once his plans inevitably fail, he will be forced into a situation to either abandon his mission or double down into a much darker place. Neither Sanders nor Thanos are the first to suggest population is running out of control. Paul Ehrlich popularized the idea back in the 1970s with the release of his book The Population Bomb. He claimed millions would starve to death due to overpopulation within a decade. Before Paul Ehrlich, there was Thomas Malthus, who wrote a book in 1798 titled An Essay on the Principle of Population. He suggested that population would lead to humanity’s doom almost 200 years before Ehrlich. Yet regardless of whether the claim came from Malthus, Ehrlich, Sanders, or Thanos, they all were wrong. Despite the incredible rise in population over the past 200 years, we have more abundance of food, not less. People have a higher standard of living, not a lower one. Basically, what’s happened is the opposite of everything they predicted. This is because the world has been adopting a freer market to solve global problems. If we expect to solve the many problems we still face around the world, we must reject central planners such as Bernie Sanders and Thanos, and reject population control, too.

Description: Sen. Ted Cruz wants to know if Sen. Bernard Sanders is getting policy ideas from Marvel Studios scripts after witnessing his response to overpopulation concerns Wednesday evening. Democrats vying for the party’s 2020 nomination fielded questions on climate change during a CNNs town hall in New York when someone asked about ways to “curb population growth.” “Human population growth has more than doubled in the past 50 years,” a woman in the New York audience asked. “The planet cannot sustain this growth. I realize this is a poisonous topic for politicians, but it’s crucial to face. Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact. Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe?” The Vermont senator didn’t hesitate. “The answer is yes,” Mr. Sanders replied. “And the answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States Of America, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies and make reproductive decisions. So I think especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, it’s something I very, very strongly support.” Mr. Cruz pounced on the response Thursday morning. “In a surprise move, last night Bernie announced Thanos as his running mate,” the Republican joked. The villainous character Thanos obsessed over the issue in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” going so far as to eradicate over 50% of the universe with a magical snap of the fingers.

bernie-popilation-control.jpg

Conservative commentator Ed Morrissey of Hotair also railed against Mr. Sanders‘ comments. “The lesson here?” Mr. Morrissey wrote Thursday. “The Left hates imperialism, except when it comes to [checks notes] encouraging other nations to kill off its young for the good of Western nation’s standard of living. Bernie Sanders wants US resources deployed in poor countries to expand abortion, not just for ‘reproductive rights,’ but to achieve zero population growth. “Even Sanders’ framing of this issue is imperialistic,” Mr. Morrissey added. “If other countries want to fund abortions, they can make that decision for themselves. All the Mexico City policy says is that US taxpayers will not fund abortions in other countries. We do not have the authority to tell other nations how to spend their own money, nor does the Mexico City policy pretend to do so. If they do not want to abide by the terms of use of our funds, they don’t have to take them.”
